Windhawk mod for Windows 11

A calmer, smarter clock for your taskbar.

WinKlok replaces the stock date and time flyout with a fast, native, Fluent-styled panel: calendar, stopwatch, timers, alarms, tasks and notes in one place, with live previews right beside the clock.

  • Free and open source
  • GPL-3.0-or-later
  • No telemetry
  • Windows 11, 64-bit

Everything in one panel

Time tools you reach for every day

Drawn natively with Direct2D and DirectWrite in the Windows palette, with real acrylic blur, your accent color, light and dark themes, and smooth touchpad, touch and pen scrolling.

Calendar

Month, year and decade views with smooth scrolling, week numbers, and a first day of the week that follows your Windows regional settings.

Stopwatch

Centisecond precision and up to 200 laps. It keeps running while the panel is closed and shows a live preview beside the clock.

Timer

Run several timers at once, name them and save one-click presets. The most recently touched timer shows next to the clock.

Alarm

Repeat on any days, add a label, pick a snooze length and one of nine built-in sounds. Alarms that came due while the PC was off are listed once, never rung late.

Tasks

A minimal to-do list with All, Active and Done views. Finished tasks sink under a dimmed heading of their own.

Notes

Any number of notes with a rich preview of Markdown and LaTeX maths. Pasting from the web or an AI chat keeps headings, lists, tables and equations.

Notification panel

WinKlok’s own panel for the taskbar bell, grouped by app. Notifications are read locally from Windows and never leave your PC.

Settings

Choose which tabs to show, 12 or 24-hour time, acrylic or simple panel material, default sounds, and sync the system clock with one click.

Optional · Google Calendar sync

Your Google Calendar, inside the clock panel

Connect a Google account and your calendars appear right in WinKlok’s calendar. It is completely optional and off until you press Connect; without it, the calendar works exactly as before.

What you get

  • Two-way sync: create, edit and delete events in WinKlok or in Google Calendar.
  • A thin ring around every date that has events, with one colored segment per event.
  • Hover a date to see its events; double-click an event to edit it.
  • Tick any of your calendars (your own, shared and read-only) to show them together, like Google Calendar.
  • Offline edits are kept on your PC and uploaded when you are back online.

How sign-in works

Connect opens your default browser for Google’s own sign-in page, using OAuth 2.0 for desktop apps with PKCE and a temporary listener on 127.0.0.1. WinKlok never sees your Google password.

How WinKlok handles Google data

What WinKlok asks Google for

calendar.calendarlist.readonly

See the list of calendars you can access, with their names, colors and your access level, and the address of your account. Read-only.

calendar.events

View and change events on the calendars you can access, including calendars shared with you. WinKlok reads only the calendars you tick and writes only when you create, edit or delete an event.

Nothing broader is requested: not the full calendar permission, and not your contacts, email or files.

Google API Services User Data Policy. WinKlok’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy (opens in a new tab), including the Limited Use requirements. Your Google data stays on your PC and is exchanged only with Google. The developer receives none of it. Read the full statement.

Private by design

Built to keep your time to yourself

Read the complete Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, or check the source yourself.

Local first

Settings, timers, alarms, tasks and notes are kept on your PC in Windhawk’s mod storage. WinKlok has no server and no account.

No telemetry

No analytics, no crash reporting, no ads and no update checker of its own. The only network use is the optional Google Calendar sync.

Open source

Everything is in one public C++ file under the GPL-3.0-or-later license. You can read exactly what it does before you install it.

Revoke anytime

Disconnect inside WinKlok revokes access at Google and deletes the stored sign-in and calendar cache from your PC.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does WinKlok send my notes, tasks, timers or alarms anywhere?

No. They are stored on your PC. WinKlok’s only network use is the optional Google Calendar sync, and that talks only to Google. Read the full details in the Privacy Policy.

Do I need a Google account?

No. Every feature except Google Calendar sync works without one. The sync is off until you press Connect in Settings.

What does Google Calendar sync access, and how do I stop it?

With your consent it reads the list of your calendars and the events of the calendars you tick, and it creates, edits or deletes events only when you do. To stop, press Disconnect in WinKlok’s settings, or remove WinKlok at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Details are in the Google data section of the Privacy Policy.

Where are my Google sign-in tokens kept?

The long-lived token is encrypted with Windows DPAPI for your user account and stored in Windhawk’s mod storage on your PC. Short-lived access tokens are kept in memory only.

Why does “Sync time now” ask for administrator permission?

The button runs the Windows Time tool (w32tm /resync), which needs permission on many systems. WinKlok itself does not contact any time server; Windows does, using the time source configured in Windows.

Which versions of Windows are supported?

Windows 11 with the XAML taskbar, 64-bit. Avoid combining WinKlok with other mods that rebuild the taskbar clock area until you have checked that they coexist.

How do I remove WinKlok?

Disable the mod in Windhawk and the taskbar clock goes straight back to Windows. If you used Google sync, press Disconnect first so the stored sign-in is removed and access is revoked at Google.
